After lots of waiting and wondering, Alden came naturally on Sunday, July 20 at 12:31am. He was 8lb. 2 oz and 21 in. long. We are all doing well, and came home Monday night. It was so good to get back to our own beds. Wally had to sleep in a recliner at the hospital, and my bed kept deflating and reinflating if I changed position. We couldn't figure out how to change it! The only issues with Alden so far are that he is a little jaundiced because his blood type is different than mine (somehow that can cause some jaundice), and breastfeeding is still a learning process though everyone seems to think he will learn it. Let's hope so :) He has an appointment tomorrow for them to check his color. We have yet to figure out who he really looks like.
All tired out.
"Is this what we've been talking about? Hm."
Rhianwen seemed more excited about spending time with grandparents than having a new baby brother. I guess I don't blame her. After all, the grandparents obviously adore her, Alden...well, he's just kind of there. When she came to see him in the hospital she said, "Baby Alden pop!" My mom had told her that Alden had popped out of mommy's belly. She held him for a little while and then said, "Mommy hold baby Alden." aka done with that!
So far he's been really easy, but since it's only the third day, all that could change. He's still that sleepy typical newbie. He is showing increasing signs of alertness though. Today, Rhianwen drew his interest with a tower of multicolored legos, and he seemed to enjoy his bouncy seat toys too. Rhianwen has also had fun giving and taking the soothie from him and patting his back.
We're laughing because Alden is pooping yet again.
Yes, isn't life exciting with a new baby? Sleeping, eating, pooping. Repeat.
congratulations!
ReplyDeleteMe too...congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I hope he stays easy for you!
ReplyDeletecongrats! We are so excited for you guys and can't wait to meet baby Alden.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I can't decide who he looks like either. Time will tell.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that he decided to come although it would have been cool to share a birthday with him.
Congratulations! I am so happy for all of you!
We're all excited about Alden's safe arrival. I love the picture of Rhianwen holding him....she and Ella can talk about the joys of baby brothers. We're praying for all the adjustments! Love, Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Love the pics! Congratulations to all of you!
ReplyDeleteOh, hey , in the clothes I left at your house, one of the outfits said something about being the baby brother. I think he looks a bit like Wally after I considered it more. There is something exciting about a newborn--another child to experience all of the excitement outside of the womb!
ReplyDeleteThe first picture, looks like Wally to me. I can't tell about the other pictures. He's adorable! Rhianwen looks like a wonderful big sister. Happy days! We are thrilled for you and glad things went well with the delivery. Hang in there with the nursing! We're praying! Love you!
ReplyDeleteIn those first pictures, he kinda resembles something from an Alien movie. But by the last two pictures, he's dern cute.
ReplyDelete"Sleeping, eating, pooping. Repeat."
Those are my areas of expertise... You tell Alden I don't like competition.
Hooray!! What a darling. Love the shot of Rhi holding him, and then the family photo is beautiful (and it looks like Rhi is poking him in the eyes, which amuses me for some reason). Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to see pictures!! Congratulations to you guys. I'm glad things are going well so far. By the way, you don't look at all like you just went through labor in that second picture! Wally looks pretty refreshed too for that matter. :) We love you guys.
